Thanks to its prime location right on the ski slopes and next to the lift facilities, our hotel offers direct access to the snow-sure Altenmarkt–Zauchensee ski area and the entire Ski amadé region. Perfectly groomed slopes and a wide variety of ski huts ensure outstanding winter sports enjoyment. Each of our rooms features its own, heated ski locker. In 2025 and 2026, we were ranked among the Top 50 slope-side hotels.

Zauchensee is home to four toboggan runs, and we especially recommend the one at Sonnalm (be sure to try the award-winning goat’s cheese!). You can make your way up on foot or take the toboggan taxi, then enjoy a thrilling ride back down into the valley. Toboggans can be rented directly at the hut.

A total of 47 kilometres of winter hiking trails and 42 kilometres of snowshoe routes of all difficulty levels await right on our doorstep. Along the way, mountain huts spoil you with culinary delights. We particularly recommend the 2.2 km-long Mondpfad at Zauchensee lake, as well as our guided snowshoe hikes starting in January.

Just 8 km away, perfectly groomed cross-country ski trails invite enthusiasts to enjoy the serene winter landscape. Those looking to combine nature and athletic challenge will find a variety of ski touring routes around Zauchensee, leading through snow-covered forests and alpine expanses. For something truly special, horse-drawn sleigh rides, ice skating rinks, curling, freeride routes and the Absolut Park for freestyle skiers are all waiting to be discovered.
